Day 6
A day with the 3 of us (including Sadie) hiking a steep trail near Escondido called Elfin Forest Recreational Area. The climb is 1400 feet in 2 miles, so an excellent cardio workout. At the top, there are numerous trails to check out, but after meeting a fellow hiker who recommended the Elfin Point route, that’s the one we chose. Once we got to the peak, there was a nice covered bench welcoming us to sit and cool down before going back down. Near the bench stood a pet memorial pole with dog leashes/tags on it commemorating faithful companions who probably loved hiking these trails.
Sadie did great and even got some water time in a small creek at the bottom.
