Day 373 (Travel Day)

Moving day, though we’re still in Kentucky. Can you tell we like the South? What’s not to like, well except for the humidity? It’s a trade off for sure as you’re surrounded by such breathtaking beauty. From the Appalachian Mountains to the rolling hills of horse country, there’s never an end in sight of lush forests and quaint towns. And we certainly can’t get enough of these lakes. We’ve been so fortunate to stay at some of the best campgrounds of the trip, here in the South, mostly lakeside. Sadie certainly gives her stamp of approval! 🐾

With the storm we had yesterday and the majority of our days lately in steamy heat, we were thankful for some good weather mojo today; comfortable temps and sunny…..the perfect day for breaking down and moving. Today’s destination…...3,000-acre Taylorsville Lake State Park in Mt. Eden, KY (somewhere between Louisville and Lexington), where we’ll have water and electric hookups. No lake views at this one, but per its namesake, there is a lake just minutes from our campground. The campground is lovely with a huge variety of trees, plenty of grass, and plenty of space between sites. This seems to be the case at most state campgrounds. It’s always a little jarring for Sadie though, when we come from forested lakeside settings where she has free reign basically, to a more manicured campground as this is, where she has to be on a 6’ tether 99% of the time. The recreational activities are endless…..boating, kayaking, wildlife viewing and 24 miles of hiking and biking trails as well. We are in the horse capital of the world, so it’s only fitting that this state park also has equestrian-friendly campgrounds with this park encompassing some of the most beautiful horse riding country around. I’m really looking forward to making this portion of our Kentucky trip, horse-filled!! Stay tuned 😉🐎
