Day 552

The morning started out beautiful in El Dorado Hills. But everyday we’ve been here, the fog or high clouds seem to creep in by noon making temps drop and the air crisp and invigorating. In fact, it made for great hiking weather, so Jeff and Sadie headed to Cronan Ranch Park in Pilot Hill, CA while my mom and I took care of needed errands. Jeff and I had visited this park several times before while we were living with my mom before the trip, and was absolutely stunning with 12 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding for all skill levels. The property also borders the South Fork of the American River making it a great spot for fishing as well. Though it is an on-leash area, Jeff used his discretion in letting her have free-reign, that is unless another dog came along. She also met a horse or two along the way, but showed more enthusiasm for her ball and treats.

Mom and I enjoyed our time together while taking care of a few Christmas errands which included bringing my mom’s Cocker-Spaniel, Bella, to her grooming appointment. I got Bella’s enthusiasm as it was similar to my excitement I had the other day for MY haircut. On the way home, we stopped to pick up a few items for our fajita dinner. Gosh, have I missed having those real authentic style tortilla chips and homemade guacamole. Maybe not eating all day gave me a more acute craving for the two. But, seriously, California has some of the best selection of corn tortillas and rockin’ tortilla chips. In fact, I may have to stock up while we’re here! The dinner was delicious and the evening perfect with a little apple pie a la mode and “Elf”.
